Ather Energy says it posted a quarterly profit for the first time. In a press release filed with the National Stock Exchange of India and the BSE on 26 October 2026, the company says consolidated profit after tax for the quarter ended 30 September 2026 was ₹1.26 crore, compared with a loss of ₹154 crore a year earlier. The release covers the unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half year ended that date.
The release says total income rose 62 percent year on year. In the financial highlights, Ather says consolidated total income for the quarter was ₹1,527 crore, driven by volume growth, pricing actions, and a change in product mix. It says volumes rose 42 percent year on year to 93,211 units. It says earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation stood at ₹74.2 crore, and that the quarter was Ather's second consecutive EBITDA-positive quarter, despite elevated commodity costs. It says the consolidated EBITDA margin improved to 4.9 percent from minus 9.6 percent a year earlier, after a 0.8 percent margin in the first quarter of FY27.
Ather says non-vehicle revenue, which it describes as coming mainly from AtherStack Pro, Ather Grid, accessories, spares, and service, rose to 15 percent of revenue from operations, from 12 percent a year earlier. It says 94 percent of customers opted for AtherStack Pro. It also says consolidated adjusted gross margin improved 160 basis points year on year to 24 percent, even with high input costs for aluminium, copper, lithium, and crude-linked plastics. Those margin lines are the company's figures in the release. They are not a forecast.
On demand, Ather says pre-orders more than doubled to 1.80 lakh in the second quarter of FY27, and that enquiries rose to about 10 lakh. It says demand outpaced available production capacity, and that the Hosur facility operated at 98 percent capacity utilisation during peak production in the quarter.
The release sets out a capacity plan. Ather says it will increase annual production capacity at Hosur by 75,000 units, from 4.2 lakh to 4.95 lakh units, by December 2026. It says a new facility in AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, is on track to begin commercial production in phases from December 2026, with phase 1 at an annual capacity of 5 lakh units. It says it will expand that plant by a further 1.5 lakh units, to 6.5 lakh units, with the additional capacity expected to commence production by the second quarter of FY28. With those steps, Ather says, combined installed annual capacity across Hosur and AURIC will reach approximately 11.4 lakh units by the second quarter of FY28. A line at the top of the release describes the same additions as 75,000 units at Hosur and a further 150,000 units at AURIC.
The Economic Times, on 26 October 2026, reports a different revenue line from the total-income figure in the release. It says revenue from operations rose 63 percent year on year to ₹1,464.24 crore in the second quarter of FY27, from ₹898.88 crore a year earlier. It says the year-earlier loss was ₹154.07 crore. The company's release prints that loss as ₹154 crore. The Economic Times also says Ather reported the profit about 17 months after listing in May 2025 at ₹328 a share on the NSE. It says the shares closed at ₹1,574 on Monday, which it describes as up fivefold from the listing price, after rising 13.7 percent during the session.
India Today, the same day, says the shares rose 10 percent following the announcement. It says revenue from operations increased 62.9 percent year on year to ₹1,464.24 crore, from ₹898.88 crore, and that the year-earlier loss was ₹154.07 crore. Those rupee amounts for operations match The Economic Times. The 63 percent and 62.9 percent are the two outlets' descriptions of the same pair of figures. India Today, citing what it calls the earnings presentation, also prints EBITDA of ₹74.17 crore and a margin of 5 percent. The company's press release prints ₹74.2 crore and 4.9 percent. This story uses the press release for the company's own totals and notes the outlets where they differ.
The share prices above are what those two outlets reported about a session that had already happened. They are not a valuation, and this desk is not saying whether the price is high or low, or what it will do next.
Other company results on this desk use the same rule: the figure is the company's, or it is attributed to the outlet that printed it. Recent examples are Rivian's U.S. third-quarter sales in a Kelley Blue Book file, Volvo Cars' third-quarter results, and Tesla's third-quarter revenue.
