CnEVPost reports that BYD has launched the third-generation Qin Plus DM-i plug-in hybrid in China, with limited-time prices from 76,900 to 97,900 yuan. It lists 16.2 and 24.3 kWh LFP packs, 140 and 220 km of CLTC electric range, a larger body, and optional lidar.

BYD has launched the third-generation Qin Plus DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan in China, CnEVPost reported on 27 October 2026. The story, by Lei Kang, says the car went on sale on Tuesday in three variants. Limited-time prices run from 76,900 yuan, which CnEVPost converts to $11,450, to 97,900 yuan. Official guide prices run from 79,900 yuan to 100,900 yuan. CnEVPost prints the conversion rate as 6.7171 yuan to the dollar.
The prices and the battery, range, and size figures below are CnEVPost's account of the launch. BYD's China page for the 2026 Qin Plus DM-i was online when this desk opened it on 27 October. The page shows no publication date, so that date is the day the URL was recorded. The text that loaded was the model name and a customer-service line. It did not print prices, battery sizes, or range. This story does not treat that page as confirmation of the specification table.
Prices and the two batteries
CnEVPost says all three variants are 3,000 yuan below their guide prices for a limited time. The entry 140 km Leading variant has a guide price of 79,900 yuan and a limited-time price of 76,900 yuan. The middle 220 km Beyond variant is 90,900 yuan on the guide and 87,900 yuan for the limited period. The top 220 km Excellence variant is 100,900 yuan on the guide and 97,900 yuan for the limited period.
The model keeps what CnEVPost calls BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid system. It offers a maximum CLTC electric range of 220 km, which CnEVPost also gives as 137 miles. CnEVPost says the predecessor's maximum all-electric range was 210 km. Optional equipment includes the God's Eye B driver-assistance system.
The two packs are lithium iron phosphate. CnEVPost says a 16.2 kWh pack provides 140 km of CLTC electric range and a 24.3 kWh pack provides 220 km. It says charging from 30 percent to 80 percent takes as little as 20 minutes. It does not say which pack that charging time applies to, or at what power.
The powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre engine with an electric motor. CnEVPost gives maximum outputs of 74 kW for the engine and 120 kW, or 161 hp, for the motor. It says BYD says the car offers a combined range of up to 2,290 km with a full tank and a full battery, and fuel consumption as low as 2.58 litres per 100 km on the NEDC cycle when the battery is depleted. Those two figures are the company's claims as CnEVPost reports them.
A larger body, and optional lidar
CnEVPost says the car measures 4,840 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,498 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. It says those dimensions are up 60 mm, 63 mm, 17 mm, and 82 mm from the previous generation. The exterior, in CnEVPost's description, has a redesigned front and a fastback profile, and keeps the Qin family's full-width taillights, which it says are inspired by Chinese knots. A new paint is called Island Blue.
On the optional lidar system, CnEVPost says God's Eye B supports city navigation on autopilot, which it abbreviates CNOA, highway and expressway navigation assistance, which it abbreviates HNOA, and several intelligent parking functions. It does not say the lidar is standard. The cabin, it says, introduces DiLink 150, with an 8.8-inch instrument display and a central touchscreen of 10.1 inches or 12.8 inches, plus more storage and redesigned seats.
CnEVPost describes the Qin Plus as the entry line in the Qin family, with both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid versions. This launch, it says, is the DM-i plug-in hybrid. It says the third-generation battery-electric version had already appeared in regulatory filings. It also says the family includes the Qin L and the higher Qin Max, which launched in August. A separate Cars desk story covers BYD's second-generation Seagull, a different model.
Sales context CnEVPost attaches to the launch
CnEVPost says the refresh comes as Qin family sales are under pressure. It says September sales were 23,472 vehicles, down 65.27 percent year on year and up 7.54 percent from August, "according to data compiled by CnEVPost." For the first nine months it says cumulative Qin family sales were 207,589 vehicles, down 54.71 percent year on year. A table on the same page is labelled as monthly Qin-series sales for 2024, 2025, and 2026, with the source line "Company reports" and a CnEVPost credit. The September 2026 cell in that table is 23,472, matching the sentence. This desk did not open the underlying company reports, so the sales figures here are CnEVPost's compilation, which it attributes to those reports.
The product claims in this story are the launch report's claims. Where CnEVPost says "BYD says," that is flagged above. Where it states a price, a dimension, or a battery size in its own voice, that is still one outlet's account of a launch, not a figure this desk copied from a BYD specification sheet. The company model page did not supply those numbers when it was opened.
